Privacy Policy for the Equal Vote Coalition and STAR Voting Project

 

The STAR Project respects your privacy and the privacy and security of the information you provide. We will make every reasonable effort to ensure the confidentiality and security of that information within our systems. We will not sell or disclose your name, mailing address, telephone number, address, or any other personally identifiable information (“Personal Data”) you provide to any third party except as required by law.

 

Scope

This document applies to the Equal Vote Coalition, STAR Voting Action, and the larger STAR Voting Project with the exception of STAR Elections, which is covered by its own dedicated privacy policy.  

This policy includes the websites starvoting.org and equal.vote, and extends to information collected and used across a number of sites officially associated with the STAR Voting Project. It does not cover voting and election related tools or ballots, either at star.vote or on any voting tool, software, or template linked under Host Election on the starvoting.org website.

We Automatically Use Cookies to Learn About You

Cookies are electronic files that your computer automatically downloads when visiting our websites. These cookies allow us to accurately track our web traffic by letting us know whether and when you’ve visited our sites before, which parts of our sites you’re interacting with, and which sites you’re coming from. You May Offer Personal Information by Commenting on Our Sites

Our associated sites may have links to forums and sign-up forms where visitors can share personally-identifying information. It’s up to you whether you choose to share this information.

We may offer various payment and donation options. Each of those transactions involves a separate company. We may use Stripe and Paypal. Any transaction using a third-party processor will provide a link where you can read their policies.

We Use Your Info for Our Mailing Lists

We create a mailing list from the information you provide including name, email, physical address, and phone. We may use this information to keep you updated on our activities that we think you may find interesting—like fundamentally changing how we vote!

We Don’t Share Or Sell Your Information

The Equal Vote Coalition and STAR Voting Action do not sell or rent supporter, donor, or website visitor information under any circumstances, and we do not share supporter, donor or visitor information without prior consent except as compelled by law. This restriction applies to supporters and donors who join or donate both online and offline.

You Can Opt Out

Personal information you provide in connection with a donation will be reported to ORESTAR as required by law and may become accessible as a public record.
